Maroma, A Belmond Hotel

Where the Riviera Maya’s lush jungle meets a secluded stretch of white Caribbean sand, Maroma offers an intimate expression of Mexican culture, craftsmanship and natural beauty. Originally the first hotel in this part of the coast, the legendary retreat was reimagined in 2023 by interior architect Tara Bernerd, using materials and textiles sourced entirely from Mexico and designs inspired by the sacred geometry of Mayan masons.

Created by local artisans, 19 rooms, 50 suites and three villas combine enduring regional traditions with contemporary comfort. Oceanfront suites embrace the surrounding landscape, while spacious signature accommodation welcomes couples, families and groups of up to ten guests.

Contemporary Mexican gastronomy is guided by seasonal local produce. Casa Mayor explores regional flavours, Woodend by Curtis Stone centres on elemental open-fire cooking, and Freddy’s Beach Bar serves relaxed drinks and snacks beside the sea. Bambuco by Handshake brings creative mixology to the evening.

Three outdoor pools, a children’s club, 24-hour fitness centre and a beach beside the world’s second-largest coral reef invite both relaxation and discovery. Experiences venture into cenotes, reefs and the natural landscapes of the Yucatán. At Maroma Spa by Guerlain—the brand’s first spa in Latin America—Mayan traditions, native ingredients and time-honoured rituals shape deeply immersive wellness journeys, complemented by an apothecary and Temazcal.

Maroma’s singular character comes from its dialogue with the land: handcrafted design, transformative wellness and modern gastronomy rooted in Mexico create a refined retreat with an authentic sense of place.
