La Samanna, A Belmond Hotel

Between the blue skies and white sands of secluded Baie Longue, La Samanna captures the joyful soul of the French West Indies. A celebrated Caribbean hideaway since 1974, the hotel has welcomed illustrious guests from the Kennedys to David Bowie while preserving its timeless French-Caribbean character and intimate connection to island life.

Its collection comprises 25 rooms, 51 suites and eight private clifftop villas, all shaped by serene interiors and panoramic views of the Caribbean Sea. Spacious cottages and multi-bedroom villas offer an elegant setting for families and friends, while romantic suites invite couples to unwind in complete tranquillity.

Dining brings together French refinement and relaxed island flavours. L’Oursin presents elevated French cuisine, La Spiaggia celebrates Italian favourites, and Laplaj offers French fusion in a relaxed beachfront setting. Baie Longue Bar is ideal for cocktails accompanied by the colours of the Caribbean sunset.

Days can unfold beside two swimming pools or on the powder-soft beach, with tennis, fitness facilities and a dedicated watersports centre also available. Boat excursions, marine encounters and ocean adventures reveal the natural beauty of St Martin, while the holistic spa and sunrise yoga provide a gentler rhythm of relaxation.

La Samanna’s distinctive allure lies in its combination of storied glamour and genuine island spirit. From private clifftop living and celebratory dining to the calm waters of Baie Longue, it remains an iconic Caribbean address for elegant escapes, honeymoons and memorable holidays shared with family or friends.
