InterContinental Maldives Maamunagau Resort

A scenic 35-minute seaplane flight from Malé reveals Maamunagau, a private island on the edge of the Raa Atoll where white sands curve around a luminous lagoon. Close to a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and beside a unique manta-ray sanctuary, the resort offers an intimate connection with one of the Maldives’ most remarkable marine environments.

Elegant beach, lagoon and overwater villas feature private pools and open towards the ocean, while spacious two- and three-bedroom residences create secluded settings for families and friends. Every stay is enhanced by a dedicated Island Curator and complimentary Club InterContinental privileges—making this the first and only all-Club InterContinental resort. Benefits include à la carte breakfast, afternoon tea and evening aperitifs.

Seven restaurants and bars shape the culinary experience. The Lighthouse pairs Mediterranean cuisine with panoramic views, Fish Market combines Maldivian seafood with Southeast Asian flavours, and Café Umi offers relaxed all-day dining and teppanyaki. The adults-only Retreat floats above the lagoon, while private dinners can be arranged on the beach, a remote sandbank or in the privacy of a villa.

At overwater AVI Spa, six treatment villas use natural light, ocean sounds and personalised therapies to inspire deep relaxation. Yoga, sailing, snorkelling, diving and complimentary non-motorised watersports invite guests to embrace the island’s natural rhythm.

The defining experience is the lagoon itself. Through the resort’s collaboration with Manta Trust, guests can discover the world of manta rays and the delicate ecosystem surrounding Maamunagau—bringing rare depth and meaning to an elegant private-island escape.
